A big boo for Groton's handling of Halloween

I would like to applaud the local towns who, out of concern for public safety, opted to move Halloween, and trick or treating, to an alternate evening, once the cleanup was completed, and the streets safer. Unfortunately, the town of Groton's response was to recommend people simply not trick or treat, without offering a future "rain date." A note to the town; Halloween is now the second biggest holiday in this country. Children spend weeks on their costumes, parents spend weeks decorating their yards. Halloween cannot be cancelled. So what happened? As you might expect, without an alternate date, Halloween went forward per the calendar, exposing children and parents to the very hazards the town had sought to avoid.

Hopefully the Great Pumpkin was watching over us, and everyone made it home safely.
