    H.S. football: East Lyme, Valley/OL post easy wins

    Montville - Dylan Janovic ran for two touchowns and Michael Murphy passed for two more as East Lyme High School rolled to a 49-6 victory over St. Bernard/Norwich Tech on Friday night at Montville High School.

    The Vikings (2-7) finish their on Thanksgiving Day at rival Waterford.

    Janovic scored on runs of 1 and 5 yards in the first half as East Lyme built a 28-0 lead. Murphy capped the first half scorign with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Mark Chmielewski and later hooked up Michael Sablilia for a 16-yard touchdown in the third quarter that increased the Vikings' lead to 42-0.

    Corey Brimmer (20 yards), David Gill (30) and Kevin Kwon (8) added TD runs for East Lyme and Corey Levesque converted all seven extra points.

    Phil Jenkins ran 10 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Saints (0-9), who finish their season on Wednesday night at home against crosstown rival Montville.

    In other games:

    • Phil Cohen passed for 201 yards and four touchdowns as Valley Regional/Old Lyme beat East Hampton/Vinal Tech 45-0 in a Pequot Football Conference Sassacus Division game.

    Valley Regional (6-3, 6-3) finishes its regular-season Wednesday night, hosting rival Haddam-Killingworth. East Hampton/Vinal Tech finishes at 1-9, 1-9.

    "I'm happy. We were able to play a lot of the young kids in and get our varsity kids out of there early,'' said Valley coach Tim King.

    Justin Cheverier rushed for 69 yards on nine carries with a touchdown and also caught two touchdown pass from Cohen, who was 14-of-20. Evan Smith also caught two touchdown passes, Jean-Luc Poulard ran for a touchdown and free safety Andrew Tuscano recorded a safety. Ricky Harrison kicked a 37-yard field goal and added four extra points.

    • Thanksgiving Day tickets for the annual Ledyard-Fitch game in Groton will be sold in advance at both schools on Monday and Tuesday. Tickets will be available both days in the Ledyard main office from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. and at the Fitch auditorium from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Advance ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for students and seniors.
