A riot of color at Spirit Gallery Tattoo

Ashleigh Kay says her latest work is "about my obsessive love for color," and the paintings find her experimenting with patterning and layers. See the vivid results when the pieces are showcased in "Chromaphilia," an exhibition opening Saturday at Spirit Gallery Tattoo, a tattoo studio and art gallery in New London.

Kay is a graduate of Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford.

An artist's reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday is free and open to the public. "Chromaphilia" remains on view through Jan. 19. The gallery at 207 Bank St. is open noon-8 p.m. Tues.-Sat.; (860) 443-0484.
