The Who performs "Quadrophenia" at Mohegan Sun

Roger Daltrey, left, and Pete Townshend of the Who

The debate among Who fans, regarding their greatest album, will remain feverish throughout eternity.

Plenty, though, are convinced it's "Face Dances."

    Just kidding.

No, a lot of folks insist their best is "Quadrophenia," and I might be amongst them. Certainly, if you're of an age and happen to be male, the emotions so achingly and powerfully explored on "Quadrophenia" resonate decades after "5:15" first blew through the corridors of your brain.

On Sunday, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey and the current lineup of The Who will perform "Quadrophenia" in toto at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Yes, the question of whether Daltrey can hit those raw and essential notes on "Love Reign O'er Me" is sort of crucial - odd to think that such a complete, two-disc masterwork could unfold and then hinge on those few notes.

Or maybe the majesty and emotion of the entire performance, all these years later, are enough to carry the day. Either way, it should be a goosebump-inducing experience.
