Suspicious substance found in mail sent to Malloy's office

Hartford — A member of the governor’s security detail opened mail on Monday containing a substance that has been sent for testing, according to the Connecticut State Capitol Police Department.
The State Capitol Police were notified around 2 p.m. and secured the scene. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Division is investigating. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Hazardous Materials Division, State Police Emergency Services Unit and the City of Hartford Health Department also were on scene and assisting with the investigation.
The samples were sent to the State Police lab for testing.
