Gimme a break!
The gloom and doom in The Day's Feb. 27 headline, "As cuts loom, many left in limbo," about sequestration, was just repeating the White House's spin that this is the end of the world. It ignores the fact that this is what Obama proposed two years ago. Now, it has come to pass and if Obama can't cut 5 percent out of a budget that has grown roughly 17 percent during his reign, without hurting major programs and the public, then we are in really deep trouble.
This is not the end of the world, just scare tactics. Maybe, just maybe, sequestration is the start of some sanity to get our budget and deficit under control.
Some are calling for state Democratic Rep. Ernest Hewett to resign after making what some saw as an inappropriate comment to a teenager at a hearing. Do you agree?
