It's good to be King: "Elvis Lives" at the Garde

There is at least one part of the job sector that seems to still be roaring, despite the economy: the job of Elvis impersonator.

And not just in Vegas. They are working on stages all over the globe. One of the most popular Elvis tribute shows comes to the Garde Arts Center on Sunday. "Elvis Lives" is described as a "multi-media and live musical journey across Elvis' life."

Which means, yes, the white jumpsuit will make an appearance. Hips will be swiveled. "Can't Help Falling in Love" will be crooned. Those Elvis-ing it up onstage are finalists from Elvis Presley Enterprises' worldwide Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.

There are four performers in all, each taking on a different era of the King's reign. Oh, and an Ann-Margret impersonator pops up, too.

    "Elvis Lives," 3 p.m. Sunday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $35-$56; (860) 444-7373, gardearts.org.
