LEGO Systems Inc. is leasing another 80,200 square feet of space in Enfield Business Park and plans to hire 65 for jobs in sales, marketing, finance and other professional positions by the end of the year. LEGO now employs about 600 in Enfield, about 100 more than in 2010.
In the next few years, it is possible that LEGO could add as many as 250 new employees in Enfield, the location of its North American corporate headquarters, said Michael McNally, a LEGO spokesman.
In the 1990s, LEGO had about 1,200 employees in Enfield on a sprawling, 203-acre, company-owned campus with about one million square feet of office, industrial and warehouse space.
But LEGO later moved industrial operations to Mexico and other locations, keeping its administrative functions, sales and marketing in Enfield.
Today, amid strong growth in its U.S. business, LEGO now leases 400,000 square feet in the business park. In 2012, LEGO said it saw its eighth consecutive year of double-digit U.S. sales growth.
