    New London fire ruled arson

New London – Fire investigators say they have determined that Saturday’s two-alarm fire at a home at 23 Moore Ave. was intentionally set.

Firefighters had arrived at the early morning fire to find heavy flames in the rear of the building with one person on the roof. Firefighters had forced their way into the burning home to rescue a man still inside. The fire rendered the home uninhabitable, displacing the two residents.

City Fire Inspector Vernon Skau said in a written statement Tuesday that anyone with information or who saw something that could help with the investigation should call Connecticut’s Arson Hotline at (800) 842-7766.

A reward of up to $2,500 dollars is available for information that leads to the arrest and/or conviction of the persons responsible for the fire.
