Connecticut State Veterans Memorial walkway pavers available for purchase

Hartford — Granite pavers that will be incorporated into the walkway leading to the new Connecticut State Veterans Memorial at Minuteman Park are available for purchase.

The memorial will be the first in the state to honor Connecticut men and women who have served in the military since the Revolutionary War era.

“While this new memorial will honor all Connecticut veterans, these engraved pavers offer opportunities to include a personal remembrance of an individual relative or friend,” said Linda S. Schwartz, commissioner of the state Department of Veterans Affairs and president of Connecticut State Veterans Memorial, Inc. “Each engraved paver will be a lasting tribute to the individual veteran and a meaningful way to help support the establishment of this poignant memorial to all who served.”

The memorial committee is selling each 12 by 6 by 2.5 inch granite paver to honor a veteran for $150 while supplies last. A veteran’s name, rank, military service and specific years of service and conflict can be engraved on the paver. Municipalities can purchase pavers with their town or city name engraved in honor of residents who are veterans. Each paver will feature up to three lines of 15 characters per line.

To order a paver, download the order form at www.cthonorsvets.org or call 860-616-3603 for an order form to be mailed.
