Old Lyme — The state Department of Transportation will hold a public presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Old Lyme Town Hall regarding safety improvements planned for a 5.5 mile stretch of I-95, from the Baldwin Bridge in Old Saybrook to Exit 72 in East Lyme, according to a news release.

The renovations will include resurfacing the route, building concrete median barrier curbs, renovating guiderails and installing safety improvements to the bridge. However, the project does not entail widening the route or adding new travel lanes, the release stated.

Construction, slated to begin in fall 2014 and end in fall 2016, will be done during off-peak hours and using temporary lane closures. The work will be done within the state’s Right-of-Way, according to the release.

The state-funded project has an estimated cost of $26 million.

DOT officials will be available for questions beforehand at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the formal presentation will start at 7 p.m.
