East Lyme residents to vote on boardwalk repairs, school capital funds

East Lyme — Two special appropriations are up for votes at a town meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall.

Residents will be asked to vote on a special appropriation of $500,000 for repairs to the Niantic Bay Boardwalk, according to the agenda. The state recently awarded the town a $500,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program grant for that purpose.

Residents will also decide if they approve a special appropriation of $221,487 for the Board of Education’s capital budget, according to the agenda. The amount allocates $18,138 for an electrical upgrade at the Lillie B. Haynes elementary school, $15,028 to install and extend a sprinkler system at the high school, $102,800 to help purchase bleachers for the high school’s north gym, $27,607 to improve the hallways in the high school’s athletic wing, $45,500 for a hot water gas conversion system at the high school and $12,414 for a contingency allowance.
