Lyme library and town hall groundbreaking set for Thursday
Lyme — The groundbreaking for the Town Hall and Library Building Project will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday at the building site near the library at 482 Hamburg Road. There ceremony is open to the public.
The town has been planning the $5.08 million project to renovate and expand Town Hall — as well as build a new library — since 2009.
The Town Hall will double in size to approximately 5,000 square feet. The expansion will include additional office space, a large meeting room and a larger vault that will meet state requirements for record storage.
The new library will be approximately 6,800 square feet and will include space for Lyme’s archives. It will have a separate children’s room, reading area and public meeting space.
Construction is expected to take 14 to 18 months.
