Westerly — Police on Thursday executed a search warrant at the China Buffet restaurant at 9 Airport Road after they received numerous complaints about fraudulent credit card use.
During the past week, police received dozens of complaints about fraudulent charges. The illegally obtained credit card numbers were used at stores throughout New England.
The common link was that all complainants had used their credit card at the restaurant, police said.
During the search, they were looking for evidence of a skimming and duplication operation. They seized credit card scanners, computers, cash registers and other electronic equipment.
No arrests have been made at this time. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
