Groton —City police arrested a local man early today after they say he attempted to rob Avery Market on Shennecossett Road. Police were called to the convenience store at 5:22 a.m. where officers learned a man had implied he had a gun and demanded cash from the store clerk before fleeing the store. Shortly after 8 a.m., police said a man matching the suspect's description was found on Benham Road and identified as the would-be thief. Gary Francopoulos, 38, of 552A Shennecossett Road, who is on probation for a 2011 robbery conviction, was charged with attempted first-degree robbery and attempted second-degree larceny. Held in lieu of a $100,000 bond, Francopoulos is scheduled to appear Tuesday in New London Superior Court.

It's awful. It looks like an ugly Christmas sweater meets 4th of July.

At least all of the materials are from the US rather than from China like the 2012 outfits.
