Some UConn basketball injury news from Wednesday afternoon's practice at Gampel Pavilion:

Junior DeAndre Daniels is considered probable for Thursday night's game against Houston in Storrs. He hasn't practiced since suffering a high right ankle sprain in Saturday's win at Rutgers.

Coach Kevin Ollie said that Daniels is at about 65 percent.

"We'll see how it is in the morning and we'll evaluate it and then we'll go from there," Ollie said. "He is healing very, very well."

Daniels, who's second on the team in scoring and rebounding, will test out his ankle during a late afternoon shoot-around on Thursday. But it's not a good sign that he sat out practice this week.

"If we held him out of shoot-around, I probably won't play him," Ollie said. "We'll see at four o'clock. He's progressing well."

After hosting Houston, UConn has a week break before visiting first-place Cincinnati on Feb. 6.

Daniels has played in 52 straight games, including 50 starts. Both are the longest current streaks by a Husky.

-- Sophomore guard Omar Calhoun is ready to return to action. He missed Saturday's game with a sprained ankle. He practiced on Wednesday.

Calhoun has been mired in a prolonged slump, losing his starting job earlier this season and averaging just 6.3 points and shooting 35.5 percent from the field. He averaged 11.1 points and shot 40 percent last season.

"He's ready to go," Ollie said. "We want Omar to get out there and play some good defense and knock down some shots and try to get back on track and play the way we've been seeing him and envision him playing.

"He's going to get another great opportunity to get out there. I think it's only a matter of time that he breaks out of his slump and plays the basketball that we know he's capable of.

"He's working is butt off, though. That's what I'm most proud of him about. … That's why I think there's going to be a break-through soon."
