Salem public hearing to discuss regulations regarding chickens

Salem – The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing about proposed changes to the town’s regulations regarding keeping chickens on residential property.

The changes are designed to allow owners of single-family residences to keep hens on their property for personal use. The regulation would apply to building lots less than 80,000 square feet and would ensure minimal impact to the neighborhood, according Planning and Zoning Chairwoman Gloria Fogarty.

Salem residents can comment on the proposed changes at the hearing, which will take place at 7 p.m. on March 18 at town hall.
