    Rick's List: Books edition

Rick Koster offers weekly lists of ideas, notions and things that must be seen to be believed.

Five thrillers I'm really looking forward to:

    1. C.J. Box's "Stone Cold" (March 11) — Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett thinks a wealthy landowner might be a professional killer. And how does Nate Romanowski, Joe's on the lam, ex-Special Forces badass, fit in?

    2. Stephen King's "Mr. Mercedes" (June 3) — Time's running out for three unlikely heroes to stop a homegrown terrorist from killing thousands in a midwestern town.

    3. Greg Iles' "Natchez Burning" (April 29) — Iles nearly died in a car accident a few years ago, and he is blessedly back to resume the saga of Natchez Mayor/ex-prosecutor Penn Cage. This has been a terrific series, and "Natchez Burning" is the first of a masterwork trilogy.

    4. Craig Johnson's "Any Other Name" (May 13) — The Walt Longmire books were already wonderful before the A&E network hit a homerun with the "Longmire" television series — which seems to have only inspired the author to get better each time out.

    5. Ace Atkins' "The Forsaken" (July 24) — The Faulkner of Mississippi noir brings back sheriff Quinn Colson to prove the innocence of a man lynched 36 years previously.
