A group of shoreline fire departments will host a region-wide food drive on April 26 to collect nonperishable food for local residents in need.
Fire stations will be open to receive food donations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The donations will go to five local food pantries run by The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries, which hopes to include all fire departments in the 11 shoreline towns they serve.
Fire departments already committed to the event include: Old Saybrook; Old Lyme, Essex, Westbrook, Clinton, Deep River, Killingworth, Chester, North Madison and Niantic. Several other fire departments are expected to participate.
For more information visit Shoreline Soup Kitchens' website at www.shorelinesoupkitchens.org. All of the region's fire departments are welcome to participate.
As part of this year’s food drive, the Old Saybrook Fire Department at 310 Main St. will host a special live broadcast on radio stations Soft Rock 106., Jammin 107.7; and 94.9 News Now.
