Norwich – The Center for Hospice Care will host its 19th annual walk at Mohegan Park on May 10.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and opening ceremonies will begin at 9:45 a.m. The three-mile walk will begin at 10 a.m.
The event will include activities for all ages such as demonstrations by a balloon artist, refreshments provided by Mohegan Sun and Olde Tymes Restaurant, music and entertainment with Franco and 100.9 ROXY FM, a Mother’s Day plant sale made possible by Holdridge Home & Garden Showplace, a prize raffle and children’s games.
The walk will raise funds to support care of patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and make it possible for hospice to provide bereavement counseling to anyone in New London County, free of charge. More than 1,100 patients, families and loved ones are served annually.
This year’s spokesman is Dan Deptulski, has walked for the last three years in memory of his mother as part of Kathy’s Krew.
Anyone can walk individually or build their own team of friends, family members or co-workers. To register, organize a team and learn about fundraising for the walk, visit: www.hospicesect.kintera.org/2014.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted. For information, send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org or call (860) 848-5699.
