Stabbing Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder
The man accused of stabbing a 23-year-old woman at an Old Saybrook motel on Friday, April 25, is facing more charges as police add attempted murder and a number of drug charges to his assault charge.
According to Old Saybrook Police, Andrew T. Craig, 25, of Deep River, was arrested Fridy after police received a 911 call at 6:37 a.m. about a stabbing that took place at the Super 8 Motel on Spencer Plains Road. The victim, a 23-year-old woman, suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where she remains in extremely critical condition.
Old Saybrook Police Detectives served a search and seizure warrant at the Super 8 Motel and detectives seized numerous pieces of evidence related to the attempted murder charge along with 178 bags of heroin and more than $2,600 in cash.
Craig has been charged with assault, criminal attempt to commit murder, possession of narcotics, posession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of less than four ounces of marijuana. He was held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Middletown Superior Court today.
