Waterford — A two-car accident temporarily closed a portion of the northbound side of Route 32 this afternoon, leading to some congestion in the area.

The accident took place in the area of Fitzgerald Avenue and police, in a posting on their Facebook page, said they called in the state Department of Transportation to help detour traffic and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to deal with a fuel spill.

Norwich Road was used as a detour. Waterford police have not yet released details of the accident.
