Mohegan Gaming Advisors names new president

    Thomas P. Burke

Mohegan - A 35-year veteran of the gaming industry has been named president of Mohegan Gaming Advisors, the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority's management and consulting arm.

The authority announced Thomas P. Burke's hiring in a press release Wednesday.

Burke will be responsible for overseeing management contracts, seeking business opportunities and supporting planning efforts related to future MGA operations.

MGA manages Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, a property in which the authority holds a 10 percent ownership share.

"We are thrilled to have such an experienced gaming operator and know that Tom's vast experience will lend heavily to our expansion efforts, operational efficiencies and, importantly, employee and guest satisfaction strategy," Mitchell Etess, the authority's chief executive officer, said.

Burke started his career at Resorts International and has held positions at Tropicana, Trump and Majestic Star casinos, among others. In 1996, he was named general manager of Ameristar Casinos, managing its Kansas City property.

Most recently, Burke served as senior vice president of regional operations for Penn National Gaming, overseeing operations for eight properties in Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Kansas.
