The LEARN board of directors has named Susan Goldstein director of the Dual Language and Arts Magnet Middle School in Waterford. She will begin her new position on July 17.
All Connecticut students are eligible to apply to the school, which serves students in grades sixth through eighth.
Goldstein has served as a second- and third-grade teacher in the dual immersion bilingual program, bilingual team leader, and second- and third-grade team leader at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School. She also has served as an English as a second language consultant with the Groton Public Schools, bilingual ESOL consultant to the state Department of Education and resource specialist for the Brown University Educational Alliance.
“We are fortunate to find a leader for the dual language arts director position with such a passion for language learning as well as her broad and deep background in dual language experience,” said LEARN Executive Director Eileen Howley in a statement. “We are excited to have Sue Goldstein join our LEARN leadership team.”
LEARN, a Regional Educational Service Center, provides leadership for teaching and learning; offers innovative schools and programs; identifies and delivers customized and cost effective programs and services; and promotes collaborative partnerships and regional cooperation.
