Connecticut State Police are helping Chariots of Hope, a Connecticut-based nonprofit, to collect used wheelchairs on June 7, the 15th annual Day of 1,000 Wheels,
Chariots of Hope collects used wheelchairs and then refurbishes and distributes them to people around the world. There are nearly 20 million children and adults around the world who could make use of the wheelchairs that now sit idle in people’s attics and basements. The group’s goal this year is to collect 300 wheelchairs.
Anyone wishing to donate a wheelchair may drop it off at any Connecticut State Police barracks (except Troop W at Bradley International Airport) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 7. Representatives from Chariots will be on hand to accept the wheelchair donation. More than 180 wheelchairs were collected last year.
