Norwich to get $5 million in state school funding

Norwich – The state Department of Education today approved the city's third-year plan under the Alliance District state school improvement program and the Priority School District plan.

The approval clears the way for the city school system to receive nearly $3.9 million in Alliance District funding this year and another $1.14 million in Priority School District funding, according to a letter Superintendent Abby Dolliver received today from Morgan Barth, division director of the state Department of Education's Turnaround Office.

"I applaud your efforts to strengthen and initiate district strategies to improve student achievement," Barth wrote. "We appreciate your commitment to advancing student outcomes through targeted investments in the areas of talent, academics, culture and climate, and operations, with a particular focus on the district's lowest-performing schools."
