    Local roundup: East Lyme ties No. 1 Bacon in boys' soccer

    Colchester - Nate Delesdernier scored with five minutes left in regulation as East Lyme High School tied unbeaten Bacon Academy on Tuesday, 2-2, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division boys' soccer game.

    Bacon (9-0-1, 5-0-1) is ranked first in Class M/S in the state poll.

    "We were disappointed the first time we played them," East Lyme coach Paul Christensen said. "We didn't think we played well at our place (a 2-0 loss on Sept. 19). … We felt like we had something to prove today and we were up to the task.

    "It was just a well-played match by two very good teams."

    Brandon Dinsmore had a goal and an assist for the Vikings (8-1-2, 4-1-2) and Billy Bragaw had nine saves.

    In other games:

    • Bryce Capunitan scored a goal in each half to lift Norwich Free Academy past Fitch, 2-0, in the ECC Large. Goalie Seth Strader made two saves to earn the shutout for NFA (6-3-1, 4-2-1). Greg Cooper had 14 saves for Fitch (0-9-2, 0-7).

    • Keith Stronach scored two goals while Justin Santacroce added a goal and two assists to power Montville past Plainfield, 9-0, in the ECC Medium Division. Ryan Turney, Joel Greenwood, Ethan Rose, Josh Handler, Caleb Sheldon and Alex Ganoe also scored for the Indians (8-0-3, 5-0-2).

    • Chris Martin scored two goals to lead Woodstock Academy past Ledyard, 3-0, in the ECC Large. Goalie Jake Skilbred made five saves for the Colonels (4-7, 1-6).

    • Wadlet Jean-Baptiste scored New London's only goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to Killingly in the ECC Medium. The Whalers are 5-6, 3-4.

    • St. Bernard rallied from a 3-1 halftime deficit to win its first game of the season with a 4-3 overtime victory over Tourtellotte in the ECC Small Division. Patrick Mahoney scored the game-winner for the Saints (1-8-1, 1-5-1), who also got goals from Austin Malchiodi, Juan Uran and Mark Malchiodi. In addition, goalie Tom Bouchard made 10 saves.

    • Sky Shogeren scored three goals as Griswold defeated Wheeler 6-2 in the ECC Small Division. T.J. Condon and Peyton Mulhern scored goals for the Lions (5-5, 4-3).

    • Waterford remained unbeaten in the Medium Division with a 3-1 win over Stonington. Max Wolfley had a goal and an assist while Dan Castelpoggi and Mike Castelpoggi also scored and Kevin Zeppieri added an assist for the Lancers (8-1-1, 6-0-1). Goalie Austin Schwartz had five saves. Ethan Murphy scored for the Bears (2-8-1, 1-5-1).

    Girls' soccer

    • Silja Forstein scored Old Lyme's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Valley Regional in the Shoreline Conference. Katherine Petterson had three saves for the Wildcats.

    H.S. field hockey

    • Christina Konstantindis scored the game-winning goal with 3:32 left in overtime, leading NFA past Fitch, 1-0, in the ECC. Helen Heyse earned the shutout with four saves for NFA (5-4-1, 5-2-1). Abby Casey had nine saves for Fitch (1-8-1, 1-6-1).

    H.S. swimming

    • East Lyme remained unbeaten by edging Waterford 93-77 in the ECC. Ugne Kirvelevicius won the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.61) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.80) for the Vikings (9-0, 7-0) while the Lancers (5-3, 4-3) had a pair of double winners in Asia Langley (50 freestyle in 25.40, 100 free in 54.90) and Meika Gathy (500 free in 5:38.90 and 100 backstroke in 1:04.37).

    • Jenna McHale took first in the 200 IM (2:55.85) and 100 backstroke (1:21.75), leading Ledyard past Windham/Lyman, 97-64, in the ECC. The Colonels are 3-4, 3-4.

    Men's soccer

    • Senior Richie Burns posted his sixth shutout of the season and 22nd of his career to lead Coast Guard Academy past Albertus Magnus, 4-0. Burns made five saves while Ryan Dandan had two goals and an assist and Luke Teleng and Caelan Harshaw each added a goal and an assist for the Bears (11-1).

    • Tyler Jones scored the go-ahead goal at the 58:37 mark, lifting Eastern Connecticut past Connecticut College, 2-1. Christian Schmidt scored his second goal of the season for the Camels (5-5).

    Women's soccer

    • Terry Netusil scored in overtime off an assist from Sarah Hills, leading Coast Guard past WPI, 2-1, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. Hills scored her fourth goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. CGA is (7-4-1, 2-2).
