    Local college roundup: Conn volleyball extends its winning streak

    New London - The Connecticut College women's volleyball team stretched its winning streak to six with a 3-1 win over Wesleyan on Saturday in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match.

    The Camels (9-7, 4-2) won 25-17, 19-25, 25-13, 25-20. Andy Mullaney had 11 kills, four digs and three blocks, Alex McDevitt had nine kills and eight digs, Caroline Martin had 17 digs and five kills and Emily Arterbury had 21 assists for Conn.

    In other matches:

    • Lesley beat Mitchell College 25-10, 25-15, 25-11 in a New England Collegiate Conference match. Nicole Caminiti had 12 assists and Kaisea Caramante of Old Lyme had 11 digs for Mitchell (4-12, 0-2).

    Women's soccer

    • Babson scored twice in the second half and beat Coast Guard 2-0 in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. Holly Moore made one save for Coast Guard (7-5-1, 2-3).

    • Annie Higgins' second-half goal gave Connecticut College a 1-0 win over Tufts in NESCAC. Bryanna Montalvo made four saves for the Camels (9-1, 4-1).

    • Joana Rosa's goal gave Regis a 1-0 win over Mitchell in the NECC. Katie McBride made 11 saves for Mitchell (1-8-1, 1-1-1).

    Men's soccer

    • Andrew Nigro and Jordan Derosier scored two goals apiece as Mitchell College blanked Southern Vermont in the NECC. Ramazan Sinani made three saves for Mitchell (6-6-1, 2-1).

    • Freshman Tyler Furry's goal in the first overtime lifted Coast Guard to a 1-0 victory over Emerson College in NEWMAC. Senior Richie Burns made two saves for the Bears (12-1, 3-1). It was Burns' seventh shutout of the season and the 23rd of his career, tying him for the academy record.

    • Tufts scored the final three goals of the game, beating Connecticut College 3-1 in a NESCAC game. Kevin O'Brien gave Conn a 1-0 lead at 6:10. Weller Hlinomaz had an assist for Conn (2-4, 5-6).

    Field hockey

    • Rachel Terveer scored two goals and Tufts defeated Connecticut College 4-1 in the NESCAC. Meghan Lembo scored for the Camels (4-6, 1-5).

    Men's hockey

    • Penn State scored five goals in the second period and beat UConn 7-1. Freshman Spencer Naas scored for UConn.
