    Jacqueline Schatzlein

    East Haven

    Jacqueline Schatzlein, 77, of East Haven, passed away Oct. 9 at home. She was born June 22, 1937, in New Haven to Raymond and Lillian (Ward) Carlson.

    She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 58 years, Robert Schatzlein, who passed away July 4. Jacqueline is survived by three children, Deborah E. Schatzlein (Cynthia Paulson) of Benicia, California; Douglas E. Schatzlein of East Haven; and Dianna E. Schatzlein-Ahern (Stephen Ahern) of Orange. Jacqueline is also survived by four grandchildren whom she cherished, Ryan James Douglas Ahern, Jamie Lynn Elizabeth Ahern, and twins Edward Robert Ahern and Stephen Patrick Ahern, II.

    Jackie, as she was known by her family and friends, was raised in East Haven, where she met and fell in love with her husband Robert. They were married and raised their family in Maplevale Court, which led to lasting friendships over 60 years. She had an undaunted love for life with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Jackie will be best known for her enthusiasm and for the stories she shared with her family and close friends. Outings with her family and friends were something she loved to go on all her life. Known as “Bama” to her grandchildren, she never missed an event or a celebration at their school.

    Family received friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church. Committal will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.
