Mystic Ballet: "Carmina Burana" and "NOTTOBé"

Alejandro Ulloa and Yuko Tanaka will be featured in 'Carmina Burana.'

It's a big few weeks for Mystic Ballet. First, the group presents its GRAB Series at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum auditorium this weekend and next. Then, it offers the premiere of its "Hamlet"-inspired "NOTTOBé" on Nov. 1 at the same locale.

The GRAB series performances focus on two pieces choreographed by Sergei Vanaev, one set to Orff's "Carmina Burana" and other to the music of AC/DC. Really. The latter is a humorous number called "La Paloma."

Mystic Ballet performed "Carmina Burana" on its tours of Central America and Europe earlier this year and drew admiring reviews.

As for "NOTTOBé," the group describes it as "an arena-theater-touring show." It was created by choreographer Vanaev and Mystic Ballet Artistic Director Goran Subotic, who is credited with the vision and dramaturgy.

Excerpts will be performed with the "Carmina Burana" shows before "NOTTOBé" is performed in full on Nov. 1.
