    High school roundup: East Lyme completes perfect ECC swim season

    East Lyme - East Lyme High School put the finishing touches on a perfect Eastern Connecticut Conference regular swmming season by defeating Norwich Free Academy 122-57 on Friday afternoon.

    NFA (3-8, 2-7) beat Old Lyme 112-59 in a nonleague meet.

    Ugne Kirvelevicius and Melinda Wei had big afternoons for the the Vikings (13-0, 10-0). Kirvelevicius won the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.89) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.13) and was also part of the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams. Wei, meanwhile, won the 200 free (2:10.74) and 100 free (58.65) and was part of the winning 200 and 400 free relay teams.

    Gretchen Stelter (50 free, 26.92), Hanna Suarez (diving, 247.05 points), Tori Poole (100 butterfly, 1:04.82) and Emma Magna (100 backstroke, 1:07.91) also won individual events for East Lyme while Emma Buckridge won the 500 free (5:41.33) for NFA.

    In another meet:

    • Waterford's Asia Langley won two events, setting a pool record in the process, as the Lancers beat Ledyard 97.5-73.5 in an ECC meet. Langley won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:35.37, breaking the mark of 2:35.79 that Annora Brennan of Waterford set in 2006. Langley also won the 100 butterfly in 1:14.70. Waterford's Catherine Ward also won twice, taking the 200 freestyle (2:36.40) and 100 backstroke (1:21.25). Cassie Medbury, Katherine Tsiouris and Meika Gathy also won events and Tori Zane, Langley and Gathy were each on two winning relay teams for Waterford (7-4, 6-4). Hannah Roediger and Megan Pipech won events for Ledyard (3-8, 3-7).

    H.S. volleyball

    • Ledyard clinched at least a share of the ECC Large Division title with a 25-18, 25-14, 25-17 win over East Lyme. Ledyard can wrap up the title with a win at NFA on Monday. Michelle Klinikowski had 34 kills, Jenny Nohara had 36 assists, six kills and three aces, Madison Canestrari had 10 kills and four blocks and Mariah Abstetar had 30 digs for Ledyard (15-1, 6-1). Brielle Benson had 11 digs and five aces for East Lyme (7-8, 3-3).

    • Caroline Taber had 19 service points as Fitch topped Woodstock Academy 25-10, 25-19, 25-17 in the ECC Large Division. Jen Severino added nine kills and Mae Sefransky 18 assists and 10 service points for Fitch (14-3, 4-2).

    • Colleen Kane and Avery Kosma had six aces each as Waterford clinched at least a share of the ECC Medium Division title with a 25-15, 25-11, 25-12 win over New London. Jill Sykora had 13 digs and Vanessa Kobyluck had 28 assists for Waterford (12-4, 6-1), which can wrap up the title with a win over Killingly on Wednesday. New London is 1-11, 0-6.

    H.S. field hockey

    • Molly Crowley scored three goals, breaking the school record, as Stonington beat Windham 10-0 in an ECC game. Crowley, a senior, has 79 goals - breaking the record of 77 that Elizabeth Morrison set last season. Casey Williams scored twice and Meagan Dreher had a goal and two assists for the Bears. Stonington (10-0, 10-0) also got goals from Abby Blanchard, Jenny Sieczkiewicz, Margit Burgess and Lauren Turner and Leslie Spencer had an assist.

    • Cara Bradley scored three goals in the first 13 minutes of play, leading East Lyme to a 6-1 win over Fitch/Ledyard in the ECC. Hannah LeBeau had a goal and two assists, Kailey MarcAurele and Kaihley Rafferty scored goals and Lianne Duong and Bradley had assists for East Lyme (5-7-1, 5-5-1). Maggie Adams scored for Fitch/Ledyard (1-10-1, 1-8-1).

    • Megan Weir had a goal and an assist as NFA beat Waterford 2-1 in an ECC game. Christina Konstantinidis scored a goal and Helen Heyse made three saves for NFA (6-5-1, 6-3-1). Isabel Cavalieri scored and Jodi Weiss made five saves for Waterford (3-5-2, 3-5-2).
