    Considering "Interstellar"

Wow, this is a lot to take in. Wormholes and black holes and time-space theory. "Interstellar" is a grand, swing-for-the-fences drama by director Christopher Nolan about an Earth where blight is leaving people starving, with the situation only promising to worsen. So the humans head to space to search for another planet that can support life. You know the roll (or, in this case, role) call: Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway as astronauts, Jessica Chastain as McConaughey's daughter. Quick takes: The scenes on Earth are intriguing - actually more interesting than the ones in space. Some of the effects look a little old-school. Iceland standing in as another planet is the most stunning visual. At nearly three hours, "Interstellar" is too long. Watching the movie, there were times I loved it, times I rolled my eyes at things that were unintentionally laughable (a fight scene seems destined for "Saturday Night Live" mockery) and times I sighed because I wanted things to move along already. Yet, I found myself thinking about "Interstellar" a lot after seeing it.
