Workers from the Norwich Department of Public works and Lindon Tree Service deliver the City of Norwich's Christmas tree, a 35-foot blue spruce, to Franklin Square Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014.

Norwich Public Works crews Tuesday installed two donated Christmas trees, one at City Hall plaza and one in Franklin Square in downtown Norwich in preparation for the annual Norwich Winterfest.

Festivities begin this Friday with the O’Tis a Festival, a holiday craft show and celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Otis Library, 261 Main St.

The annual Light Up City Hall festival will run from 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 with free horse-drawn wagon rides, entertainment, a community carol sing and Santa leading the countdown to the lighting. The main event will be Saturday, Nov. 29 starting with the Winterfest Kids Fun Run at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Winterfest 5K at 11 a.m. and the Norwich Winterfest Parade, “the Wonder of Winter” stepping off from Chelsea Parade at 1 p.m. A street concert featuring Melaena will follow the parade.
