Redesigned employee health center opens at Foxwoods

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe celebrated Tuesday the opening of its newly redesigned employee health center at Foxwoods Resort Casino. Managed by Cerner Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., the Cerner Health Center at Foxwoods will provide employees with occupational health services, including treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses, medical surveillance, physicals, drug and alcohol screenings and proactive ergonomics.

The center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily and will be staffed by a part-time medical doctor, occupational health nurse, physical therapist, athletic trainer and two medical assistants.

"In addition to giving employees access to outstanding occupational health services, the partnership with Cerner will allow the Tribal Nation to more proactively respond to the health needs of our workforce," tribal Chairman Rodney Butler said. "This state-of-the-art employee health center is just the first step toward providing more comprehensive health care and wellness services for tribal members and employees."

Cerner operates 35 health centers nationwide.
