Hartford – In response to the snow storm that is affecting some parts of the state, Governor Dannel P. Malloy ordered all nonessential, second-shift state employees to not report to work today.

Malloy said state employees are encouraged to contact their supervisors for further guidance.

“Considering the precarious driving conditions across the state and that this is traditionally the busiest travel day of the year, I want to urge all residents to be safe, avoid travel and stay home until the roads have been cleared,” Malloy said in a statement.

Second-shift state employees have staggered start times, which usually begin in the early to late afternoon.

All state employees are encouraged to monitor the “Notification of Early Release/Late Opening for State Offices” page on the state’s Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security website for the latest updates on state office closures.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
