New London - City police are investigating what they are calling the “untimely death” of a local woman Saturday. 

Police and fire department personnel responded to the scene at 115 Blinman St., #2, at approximately 8:45 a.m. Saturday after a man called 911 to report his girlfriend was unconscious and not breathing, according to an NLPD news release. 

The woman was then transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. 

Detectives joined patrol personnel at the apartment to assist in the investigation of the incident, which police categorized as “suspicious” in their news statement. 

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
