    High school girls' basketball: Ledyard's Klinikowski surpasses 1,000 career points

    Colchester - Michelle Klinikowski scored 22 points, including the 1,000th of her career, as Ledyard High School held off Bacon Academy for a 45-42 victory Tuesday night in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division girls' basketball game.

    Klinikowski, who accepted a Division I volleyball scholarship at Boston College, came into the game needing 14 points and reached the milestone by making a layup with 3:38 left in the third quarter.

    She also hit two free throws with .5 seconds remaining after Bacon (7-3, 3-2) pulled to within a point late on a 3-pointer by Jill Reynolds.

    Klinikowski finished with 18 rebounds while Sarah Serbacewicz added 11 points for the Colonels (6-4, 4-1), including three 3-pointers.

    In other games:

    • Caitlyn Dittman sealed the win by sinking two free throws with two seconds left, lifting St. Bernard past Killingly 38-35. Dittman finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Saints (5-5), while Kaitlyn Berkel added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

    • Freshman Kate Hall had 20 points and eight steals and Taty LaFrance Boyce had 16 points, seven steals and six assists as Stonington downed Windham 72-44. Margot Calmar had 19 points and 15 rebounds for Stonington (9-2) and Cameron Dreher had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Lindsay Phaneuf scored nine for Windham (2-7).

    • Abby Stone had 25 points, eight rebounds and seven steals to help Old Lyme hold off Haddam-Killingworth 54-52 in the Shoreline Conference.

    Catie Quaratella added 12 points for Old Lyme (7-3, 7-2), which converted some clutch free throws down the stretch in the tight game.

    • Jordan Venditto had 14 points and six steals as East Lyme won its first game of the season, 53-45 over Woodstock Academy in the ECC Large. Maggy Powers had 14 points and 10 rebounds for East Lyme (1-8, 1-3).

    • Hailey Conley made four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points and Cebria Outlow scored 13 as sixth-ranked Norwich Free Academy downed Fitch 62-27 in the ECC Large. Mackenzie Burke had 12 points for NFA (10-1, 5-0). Brianna Robinson had eight points for Fitch (2-8, 1-4).

    • Lincoln (R.I.) cruised to a 66-17 victory over Williams School on Monday. Claudia Pagnozzi-Schwam had nine points and seven blocks for Williams (0-4) while Paola Vangjeli added six points and three steals and Amy Burzin had six rebounds.
