'Yes' on Ledyard school project a 'no-brainer'

I love my town but sometimes I think it needs to be reminded to live in the present and future, rather than the past. Having served on the local school board several years ago, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to get the populace to approve school building projects.

I remember how difficult it was trying to get a high school building project passed, one that included a pool. That failed, but eventually one did pass, and by that time, if memory serves me right - after all I am as old as the Ledyard Center School - the project that passed was more than the original proposal, was smaller and didn't include the pool. That is what happens when the can gets kicked down the road.

I am more frugal than most, live on a fixed income and hate to see my taxes go up, but this project seems like a no-brainer. I urge my fellow Ledyard residents to approve it Tuesday.

It will meet current codes and update learning opportunities to carry our children into the future. I have no children or grandchildren living in town to benefit, but I realize I have to think of the future.
