Eighteen physicians affiliated with Lawrence + Memorial and Westerly hospitals have been recognized as 2024 Top Doctors by Connecticut Magazine and Rhode Island Monthly.

Connecticut Magazine partnered with Castle Connolly, a leading national health care research company, to compile the Connecticut list. Castle Connolly's research team vetted each physician's professional qualifications, education, hospital and faculty appointments, research leadership, professional reputation, disciplinary history and, if available, outcomes data.

A physician's interpersonal skills such as listening and communicating effectively, demonstrating empathy and instilling trust and confidence, also were considered in the review process.

Rhode Island Monthly contracted with DataJoe Research to conduct its survey using an online ballot for collecting, vetting and tallying votes.

The doctors selected and their specialities were: MaryAnn Bentz, dermatology; Glenn Brady, anesthesiology; Joseph Brito, urology; Mical Campbell, gastroenterology; Joseph Cecere, anesthesiology; Francis Falck, ophthalmology; John Frese, gastroenterology; Jon Gaudio, cardiovascular disease; and Alan Greenwald, gastroenterology.
