    Rick's List: Odd sports edition

Rick Koster offers weekly lists of ideas, notions and things that must be seen to be believed

Joggling - a bizarre combination of jogging and juggling - has been around since at least 1980 and, by now, there are global events where participants run and juggle competitively in distances ranging from 100 yards to full marathons.

Joggling, perhaps understandably, is fairly obscure in the great context of sporting competition. But a new television commercial for the Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotel chain, featuring Michal Kapral, the world's fastest marathon juggler, has introduced the phenomenon to millions.

To answer the obvious question: yes, there are probably better ways to spend one's time than the mastery of joggling. But who am I to judge? Here is a list of similarly conceptualized "simultaneous activities" you might not know about.

    1. Aut-hopsy - Forensic pathologists conduct post-mortem examinations while engaging in free-style hip-hop battles. Sound easy? Try rhyming something with "Formalin" while calculating hypostasis!

    2. Mara-fawn - Similar to joggling, this construct requires participants to run 26 miles with a baby deer draped around their necks.

    3. Yawn-mowing - The game involves seeing how many doses of Ambien barefoot competitors can take and, racing against the clock, push power mowers through an intricate garden maze without running over their own feet.
