    Boatright, Dunn finalists for Bob Cousy award

      UConn senior Ryan Boatright and Providence sophomore Kris Dunn are two of 17 finalists for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award in college basketball.

      Boatright is leading the American Athletic Conference in scoring at 17.6 points per game. He’s also averaging 4.3 assists and 4.4 rebounds.

      Dunn, a McDonald’s All-American out of New London High School, is averaging 15.6 points, 7.6 assists and 5.7 rebounds. He’s on track to become the first player in the 36-year history of the Big East to rank first in assists and steals.

      Heading into Saturday’s action, Dunn was first in assists (7.8) and steals (2.8) in conference play.

      The finalist list for the Bob Cousy award will be trimmed to five by early March. The winner will be announced April 10 in Los Angeles.

      Other players in the running include: Arizona’s T.J. McConnell, California’s Tyrone Wallace, Gonzaga’s Kevin Pangos, Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Keifer Sykes, Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell, Iowa State’s Monte Morris, Louisville’s Terry Rozier, Maryland’s Romelo Trimble, North Carolina’s Marcus Paige, Utah’s Delon Wright, Washington’s Nigel Williams-Goss, West Virginia’s Juwan Staten, Wichita State’s Fred VanVleet, Duke’s Tyus Jones and Brigham Young University’s Kyle Collinsworth.
