Switch to Democrats for NL mayoral primary

    xxxxx

Anybody who has lived in New London for any period of time and has monitored the political scene knows that New London is a fiefdom of the Democratic Party. Although there are some hearty Republicans in town, they are far outnumbered by the Democrats. As a Republican, other than to exercise your constitutional right, one must ask why vote when even a good candidate has little chance. This is particularly true when voting for mayor, now that a four-year mayor is what we have.

So, to be heard, it seems reasonable for Republicans to change their registration to Democrat to be able to vote in the Democratic primary. That will be the election of the mayor, unless the Republicans come up with a standout candidate. It is a simple process and I intend to do it. I want my vote counted. If the Republicans come up with that extra special candidate, I can always vote for him or her in the general election. But for now, it is time to become a Democrat. You have until June 1, to do so and be eligible for the Democratic primary Sept. 16.
