    H.S. roundup: Norwich Tech tops St. Bernard 6-5 in baseball

    Norwich — Evan Lepage scored the game-winning run on an error with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday as the Norwich Tech baseball team beat St. Bernard 6-5.

    Bryce Bedard was 3-for-4, including two doubles, with two RBI and Lepage singled and doubled for Norwich Tech (13-6), which hosts Abbott Tech in a Constitution State Conference tournament quarterfinal today.

    James Foti had two hits and scored twice for St. Bernard (9-10).

    In other games:

    • Chris Munzer drove in five runs as Wheeler beat Parish Hill 19-4. Mike Dellaporta was the winning pitcher, had four hits, drove in two runs and scored three times and Munzer singled twice, homered and scored three runs for Wheeler (4-14). Kevin Knowles had two hits — including No. 100 of his career — and scored three runs, Alex Haines had three hits and Dylan Wilkinson and Josh Lapid had two doubles each for Wheeler.

    • Jordan Zeppieri homered and drove in five runs as No. 2 Montville finished off Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division play unbeaten with a 9-0 win over Killingly. Tom McDonald had four hits, Buddy Dewaine hit a three-run homer, Zeppieri doubled, homered and scored twice and Jeremy Sagun, TT Bowens and Seamus Barry had two hits each for Montville (16-2, 10-0). Bowens (5-1) pitched six shutout innings for the win, striking out four with one walk.

    • Cameron Dean-Frazier pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and had three hits as Old Lyme beat Hyde/Hillhouse 10-3 in a Shoreline Conference game. Ford Kleir doubled twice and drove in three runs, Hunter Sheffield and Alex Bellas had two hits each and Dean-Frazier scored three runs for Old Lyme (12-7).

    Girls' tennis

    • Lauren Rahr, Jessie Hudson, Francisca Secor and Stacy Tasoulas gave Waterford a sweep of the singles matches in its 6-1 win over East Lyme. The teams of Alaina Moger and Sophie Wang and Sophie Impelleteri and Sarah Verity won at doubles for the Lancers (13-2). Lily Slemp and Erin Peterec won at doubles for East Lyme (10-5).

    • St. Bernard completed its ECC Small Division schedule undefeated with a 7-0 win over Windham. Michaela Abate, Kat McKinley, Wendy Bessette and Maddie Mahoney won their matches for the Saints (12-1, 6-0), who also got wins from the doubles teams of Anna McKinley-Katherine Matthews, Andrea He-Marissa Fratoni and Shannon Forrester-Liz Jezierski.

    Boys' tennis

    • Fitch swept doubles play en route to a 5-2 win over Bacon Academy. William Baldwin and Chase Brown won singles matches for Fitch (11-3) and the teams of Bennett Tiesinga-Matt Pastor, Connor Brown-Kush Kumar and Shiloh Feldmon-Alex Adrian all prevailed.

    • Old Lyme suffered its first loss of the season, losing to Old Saybrook 4-3 in a Shoreline Conference match. Brendan White and Ethan Fenton won their matches for Old Lyme (18-1) along with the doubles team of Alex Clippinger and Adam Czarnecki.

    Boys' golf

    • Glen Faber and Matt Shea shared medalist honors at 42 as Waterford beat Fitch 7-0. Brett Collins, Stephen Lavoie and Blake Arnold also won matches for the Lancers (12-5).

    • New London beat Fitch 6-1. Jack Madden of New London and Luke Teixeira of Fitch shared medalist honors (48). Tim Glavan, Zach Moore and Seth Lake also won matches for New London (4-10). Fitch is 2-15.

    • Mike Anderson earned medalist honors (47) as Wheeler beat St. Bernard in an ECC Small Division match 6-1. Tyler Primett, Jake Umphlett and Peyton Mulhern also won their matches for Wheeler (6-7, 4-4). John Nelson won his match for St. Bernard (4-15, 3-7).

    • Norwich Tech lost to Goodwin Tech in a Constitution State Conference match, 203-238. Joe Bacon shot a 52 for Norwich Tech (6-8, 5-5) and Josh Ries shot a 53.

    • Sam Ognisty, Jack Ognisty and Noah Blanchette all shared medalist honors (40) as Stonington beat Ledyard 7-0. Stonington is 13-2.

    Girls' lacrosse

    • Sydney Cowell had five goals and three assists and Sloane Sweitzer added four goals and five assists as Old Lyme beat Norwich Free Academy 22-4. Maggie Berger, Julia Strycharz and Lauren Quaratella had three goals each for Old Lyme (14-1). Kamryn Grace had three goals for NFA (7-8).

    • Christen Teskey had three goals and two assists and Shannon Amarello scored four times as St. Bernard beat Griswold 16-4 in the ECC Small. Nancy Kuhn and Grayce Mayeda each had two goals, Kara Bassett had a goal and an assist and Shannon Foley and Danielle Keefe each had five saves for the Saints (6-8, 5-4).
