    NFA girls (eight in a row), East Lyme boys earn titles in ECC track meet

    East Lyme — Olivia Lane won the shot put (35 feet, 1 inch) and discus (114-2) to help lift the Norwich Free Academy girls' track and field team to its eighth straight Eastern Connecticut Conference championship Saturday.

    NFA won with 100 points, while East Lyme and Montville tied for second with 74 points each.

    Greg Atkinson swept the hurdle events for the East Lyme boys, as they outdistanced Windham 115-98 to win the title. NFA was third with 87 points.

    Atkinson won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.14 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 40.07.

    Other local athletes who won multiple events were NFA's Jawaun Johnson (boys' 100, 200), New London's Jelani Lucas (boys' long jump, triple jump) and Ledyard's Megan Brawner (girls' 800, 1,600).
