Norwich doctor facing new sexual assault charges

Norwich — A Norwich doctor charged last month for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient is facing new charges after police said two more alleged victims came forward.

Dr. Manoj K. Saxena, 45, of 290 Foster Drive in Mansfield was charged Friday by warrant with second-degree sexual assault and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.

Police said the charges are part of an ongoing investigation by city police detectives.

The new charges stem from the discovery of two more victims who both stated they were sexually assaulted by Saxena while he was acting in his official capacity as a medical doctor for Concentra Urgent Care at 10 Connecticut Ave. in Norwich.

Saxena was arrested on May 14 for a similar incident involving an 18-year-old female victim.

The alleged victim, who visited the clinic for a bite on the forearm from an autistic child, said Saxena asked her if she had ever had a breast exam or pelvic exam and made inappropriate comments about her anatomy. The victim works for the City of Norwich.

Without giving her a gown or leaving the room while she removed her clothing, Saxena conducted both exams without a nurse in the room, according to the arrest warrant affidavit in the case.

The alleged victim said Saxena told her she was "inspiring" and hugged her and kissed her on the forehead at the end of the exam.

According to the affidavit, the City of Norwich uses Concentra Urgent Care as a treatment facility for work-related injuries.

Following his arrest on Friday, police said the Saxena posted a $60,000 court set bond and is scheduled to appear July 16 in Norwich Superior Court. Saxena had already posted $100,000 bail in the previous case in which he is charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree sexual assault.
