Sunday: Old Lighthouse Museum hosts Salt Marsh Opera concert

Yes, the Fourth of July weekend tends to be about fireworks, but the pyrotechnics in this case are vocal.

Two acclaimed singers — soprano Dana Fripp and tenor Brian Cheney — will perform at 6 Sunday night on the lawn of the Old Lighthouse Museum in Stonington

Salt Marsh Opera's "Music at the Lighthouse" program will offer arias, music-theater songs and patriotic tunes over the course of 75 minutes. Pianist Cathy Vanable will accompany Fripp and Cheney.

Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnics for anytime after the lawn opens at 5 p.m., and they get to enjoy the site's view of Fishers Island Sound.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and free for kids under 14. Call (860) 535-0753 or (888) 788-4188.

The rain date is July 12.
