    Waterford to play for state Division 3 (10-11) baseball title

    East Lyme — Waterford advanced to the championship game of the Connecticut Little League (10-11) Division 3 baseball tournament with an 11-3 victory over Glastonbury on Monday night.

    The District 10 champions will face District 9 winner Madison in today's final at 6 p.m.

    Will Sutman had three hits for Waterford, Will Rochetti had two hits, including a two-run home run, and Logan Avin added a pair of hits while Jordan Elci (five strikeouts) and Colby Arnold (save) combined for the win.

    Tigers beat Renegades

    • The Connecticut Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Hudson Valley Renegades 4-2 in a New York-Penn League game at Dodd Stadium. Corey Baptist doubled home one run for the Tigers (13-16) in the first while Josh Lester and Jose Zambrano added RBI singles.

    Spencer Watkins (3-2) pitched six shutout innings for the win, allowing only two hits, while Jake Shull pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. The Tigers begin a three-game series at home tonight at 7 against the Batavia Muckdogs.

    District 10 LL baseball (9-10)

    • Waterford won the District 10 Little League championship with a 7-0 victory over Mystic on Sunday night in the deciding game of the three-game series. Winning pitcher Sean Salvador went the distance for Waterford while Sean O'Donnell had a home run and douible, Jabez White had two hits, Nate Hynes homered, Mason Concascia had a triple and Evan McCue a double. Jose Rodriguez and Dylan Meyer had two hits apiece for Mystic and Ethan Mireault doubled.

    Sutera tournament (11-12)

    • Ethan McCarthy's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Pawcatuck to a 6-5 win over Mystic in the Gene Sutera (11-12) baseball tournament. Bowen Baker hit two home runs and Chrisian Ward added another for Pawcatuck while Cam McGugan had three hits, including a home run, to lead Mystic and Jacob Bendick also homered and singled.

    • Andrew Benoit had four hits as Montville defeated New London 8-6. Justin Saad added two doubles and Isaiah Gallagher had two hits for Montville while Alesandro Santiago had a home run and single for New London and Frank Pacheco added a home run.

    Sutera tournament (9-10)

    • Owen Elmer had two doubles and a triple as East Lyme defeated Waterford 18-7. Nathan O'Neil added two doubles for East Lyme and Connor Moran and Anthony Enos added two hits apiece. Ayus Solanki and Kevin Kilromens had doubles for Waterford.

    SEC Babe Ruth (16-18)

    • Tom Pezzolesi had four hits as Waterford defeated East Lyme 16-3 in a SEC Babe Ruth (16-18) baseball game on Sunday night. Edgar Centeno and Andrew Kenniston added two hits apiece, including doubles, for Waterford (6-1-1) while Tyler Howser, Michael Beltran and Sam Strout each had two hits and Cody Cleary homered. Bryan Carambot and Mike Conan each had hits for East Lyme (0-8).
