    H.S. golf roundup: Lions remain unbeaten with a win over Bobcats

    Stonington — Gavin Arruda shot a 3-over-par 39 and the Wheeler High School boys’ golf team remained unbeaten Thursday with a 5-2 victory over Bacon Academy at Stonington Country Club.

    Keiran Boscoe and Jaxon Davis each added 42s for Wheeler (6-0), which won the team medal points 168-186. Alex Gallardo finished with a 41 for Bacon (1-2).

    In other matches:

    • Tyler Moore fired a 1-over par 36 and East Lyme blanked New London 7-0 at Great Neck Country Club to remain unbeaten at 6-0. Jack Bucko and Max West each shot a 38 for the Vikings and Nate Blankenship finished with a 39.

    • Etahn Torres shot a 43 to lead Stonington to a 5.5-1.5 victory over Tourtellotte at Raceway Gof Club. Seamus Doyle, Sam Olmstead and Connor Foley followed at 46 for the Bears (2-3), who won the team medal points 181-220. Nicolas Kostacopoulos shot a 42 to earn medalist honors for Tourtellotte.

    Girls

    • Maizy Alu shot a 50, Adilyn Risley a 52 and Stonington defeated Woodstock Academy 216-229 in an ECC match contested on the front nine at Quinnatisset Country Club. Woodstock’s Liliana Moran earned medalist honors with a 49. Stonington is 1-3 overall and in the conference.

    On Wednesday, Stonington lost to Killingly/Ellis Tech 209-221 in an ECC match. Stonington’s Risley tied for medalist honors with Killingly’s Sadie Murray with a 48.
