I read with interest the guest opinion, “Hewett: New London a winner in recent session,” (July 19), by state Rep. Ernest Hewett about all that was achieved for New London in the legislature this session.

Sadly, we cannot say the same about Groton. In 2014, long-serving Groton Democrats were replaced with freshmen Republicans in the legislature. Those Republicans, John Scott and Aundre Bumgardner, have achieved nothing for Groton. According to ctmirror.org, Groton’s state monies have declined. Neither Rep. Bumgardner nor Rep. Scott introduced any successful bills. Rep. Scott had questionable attendance. Neither is able to work successfully with the majority party to deliver for their constituents. Groton should vote them out in 2016 and put in Democrats who can do the job in Hartford.
