    The Stanley Cup visits Niantic

Rachel Hobert of Chicago hoists the Stanley Cup over her head at the Old Black Point Croquet Court in Niantic on Sunday, July26, 2015. The prestigious Cup, which was presented to the Chicago Blackhawks after winning the National Hockey League championship in June, spent the day in the Black Point area courtesy of former Blackhawks star Patrick Sharp, who brought the Stanley Cup to Connecticut. Sharp´s wife Abby grew up Connecticut and her family has a home in Niantic. Hobert and her family are vacationing in Old Black Point, and when Sharp spotted the group wearing Blackhawks jersies, he allowed them to pose with the Cup. Sharp was traded to the Dallas Stars earlier this summer. (Steven Frischling/Special to The Day)
